Most Lubbock dog owners don’t think twice about waste left behind in the backyard. But left unmanaged, it doesn’t just stay there. Rain and irrigation runoff carry bacteria and nutrients from dog waste into storm drains and playa lakes, the natural basins that capture and filter much of the region’s water. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lists pet waste as a recognized source of bacterial water contamination in urban watersheds.
Hub City Scoop Dawgs, a locally owned pet waste removal company, is working to change that one yard at a time while saving Lubbock dog owners a weekly chore in the process.
Founded by Tracy Moore, the company grew out of a personal problem: keeping up with the messes left by the founder’s own bulldog, Coco. Unable to find a local pet waste service that met her standards, Moore built her own; one focused on dependable, detail-oriented cleanup for Lubbock dog owners.
The company offers weekly and twice-weekly residential cleanup, with optional pet-safe yard disinfecting to cut down on the bacteria that waste leaves behind on lawns where kids and pets play. Service continues year-round, including through West Texas winters, since the region’s relatively snow-free climate keeps yards accessible.
Hub City Scoop Dawgs currently serves Lubbock and surrounding communities, with no long-term contracts required.
