(1) Oil Leakage FailuresOil leakage is the most frequently reported quality issue. In some D375 bulldozers, leakage occurred after only about 20 hours of operation, specifically at the floating seal. Disassembly revealed fine copper chips inside the roller cavity and oil grooves, deformed and worn rubber sealing rings, severe wear on the shaft oil groove edges, and worn bearing bushes.
(2) Roller Body WearPremature wear of the roller body is mainly caused by substandard steel grades or insufficient heat treatment hardness. Some products use 50Mn or 45# steel, which lacks the wear resistance required for mining conditions and is prone to breakage.
(3) Early Cracking and FractureBatch cracking occurs in the inner bore after full-body heat treatment. Analysis shows the primary causes are:
-Lack of normalizing after forging, leading to mixed grain sizes.
-Insufficient tempering time after full-body heat treatment, resulting in incomplete transformation of martensite to tempered martensite.Roller flanges may also fracture prematurely, affecting overall service life.
(4) External Factors Affecting the Sealing System Track Rollers operate in mud, water, and dust, under heavy impact. In mining, rocky, or muddy conditions, fine particles continuously enter the contact area between the track and roller, causing abrasive wear and surface spalling. If sealing is inadequate, abrasives may also intrude into internal components, damaging the shaft and bushings.
(5) “Track Grooving” / Irregular WearLoose mounting bolts leading to axial displacement or tilting, severe wear of the roller positioning groove, or misalignment of the mounting hole centerline on the track frame can cause the roller to “groove” the track, accelerating abnormal wear of both the track and the roller.
