The 4th Global Cross-border E-commerce Summit opens in Hangzhou

“New Tides in Qiantang River, Digital Trends along the Silk Road”

On June 27, the 4th Global Cross-border E-commerce Summit on “New Tides in Qiantang River, Digital Trends along the Silk Road” was successfully held in Hangzhou’s White Horse Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center. Sponsored by China (Hangzhou) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area and organized by Ebrun and Siilu.com, the summit, themed “digital enabling, industrial merging,” attracted more than 1,000 representatives of cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Areas, service providers, sellers and foreign trade enterprises.

Zhang Li, Deputy Director-general of Foreign Trade Department of Ministry of Commerce, addressed the summit. Hu Wei, Vice Mayor of the People’s Government of Hangzhou, made a keynote speech on The Layout and Practice of Digital Silk Road Strategic Hub, pointing out that Hangzhou’s efforts in giving play to its digital trade advantages with cross-border e-commerce as the representative sector to build the Digital Silk Road Strategic Hub and encouraging more enterprises to directly participate in international trade, will help the synergic development of large, medium and small enterprises, as well as boost the upgrading and brand growth of domestic manufacturing enterprises. Long Yongu, former Vice Minister of Foreign Economy and Trade, former Director and Secretary-general of Bo’ao Forum for Asia, who doubles up as Chairman of Center for China and Globalization and Joint Chairman of Global CEO Conference, made a keynote speech on “digital economy brings opportunities for the global economic development”. Didier Nkurikiyimfura, Director of Technology and Innovation Officer at the Smart Africa Secretariat, affirmed the acceleration effect of the building of Digital Silk Road to the economic development of countries along the Belt and Road based on current situation of Africa’s e-commerce and digitization. Cristina Bao, Managing Director of Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), interpreted the cross-border e-commerce globalization path from the capital dimension.

Global insight: digital technology enables industries

Digital economy is a new economic form and system that is leading the global economic development. Lin Wenkui, General Manager of eBay Greater China Sales, Rani Gu, Head of Treasury Services, China, and Head of Treasury Services Product, Greater China, J.P. Morgan, Elbert Bailey, General Manager of the Channel Department of Google Asia Pacific, Han Xi, General Manager of Public Affairs Department of Cainiao Network Technology, Victor Sokovnin, Market Director of B2B-Center China, discussed and exchanged views, on behalf of platforms, cross-border finance, marketing, warehousing and logistics service enterprises in the digital trade industrial chain, together with Zheng Min, the host of the dialogue and chairman of the board of eBrun. Centering on “how to promote digitization and merge industries”, they discussed on how to empower trade with digital technologies and how to realize in-depth integration between digital technology and industries.

Hangzhou Experience: a new breakthrough in cross-border e-commerce

The unique soil in Hangzhou has incubated and attracted a group of outstanding cross-border e-commerce enterprises. Yunji Sharing Technology Co. Ltd. (Yunji) is a newly listed local enterprise in Hangzhou. Based on Yunji’s model, Xiao Shanglue, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Yunji, shared how to drive the cross-border e-commerce import consumption based on the digital marketing of social networking services. The roundtable was chaired by Wei Haijun, the Founding Partner Grand View Capital. Chen Weijing, deputy director of the Leading Group Office of China (Hangzhou) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area, Li Jialun, founder and president of Club Factory, Pan Guodong, CEO of Lianlian Pay, Sandy You, vice president of NetEase Kaola, and president of Kaola Research Institute, Dennis Du, Executive Vice President of Jollychic, Li Feng, Senior Vice President of Hangzhou Great Star Industrial Co. Ltd., Liu Jianghong, General Manager of Cross-border Business of Shopee, Wan Xiaowen, President of Shenzhen Rondaful Technology Co. Ltd., discussed new breakthroughs in the cross-border e-commerce in the coming years, providing new ideas for the future strategic layout of cross-border e-commerce enterprises.

Digitization strengthens industrial innovation

At the B2B cross-border e-commerce industrial innovation level, Zhou Bangbing, Chairman of Hangzhou Jiepei Information Technology Co. Ltd., analyzed the future development direction of B2B cross-border e-commerce with the printed circuit board proofing market as an example. His speech provided an answer on how vertical enterprises employ digital technology to explore the global market and become a new player of the cross-border e-commerce.

Chen Xin, Managing Director of Foshun Fashion Group, chaired the third roundtable dialogue. Huang Jianwen, Chairman of Shibaipao E-commerce Co. Ltd., Xu Beixi, CEO of Otto (China) E-commerce Business Division, Vince Yin, partner of Shenzhen Starmerx E-commerce Co. Ltd., Tan Tie, CEO of Wantdo.com, Bella Huang, E-commerce General Manager of Xtep (China), presented the innovation power of industrial digitization based on the growth experience of cross-border e-commerce brands, on behalf of big sellers, foreign companies and domestic brands, respectively.

Finally, Zheng Min, CEO of eBrun, made a wonderful concluding speech from the perspective of restructuring the industrial structure with cross-border e-commerce. In addition to the main forum, two parallel forums were held on the trend of 2019 global cross-border e-commerce platforms and practice of cross-border e-commerce independent stores, in addition to the main forum. The sub-forums introduced the platform development trends in the vibrant e-commerce markets of Russia, Middle East, Africa, India, South America and Europe, and how enterprises solve key problems in technology, operation, GA tracking and views in the independent store businesses.
