• Copper (Top 10 Globally): With reserves of 270 million tons, this vast copper base provides strong support for the mining economy, especially given copper’s role as a key metal in the electrification era.
• Iron Ore: Reserves total about 6 billion tons. Mostly consisting of easily beneficiated rich ores, they hold huge development potential and form the foundation for the country’s steel industry.

3. Critical & Rare Metals: Potential Stars of the New Energy Era

• Lithium: Reserves are around 1 million tons. Against the backdrop of exploding demand for EV batteries, these reserves position Kazakhstan as a key potential supplier in the future global lithium supply chain.
• Gold: Reserves stand at 7,000 tons. Currently marked as “potential to be developed,” this suggests that proven reserves could see significant growth with advancements in exploration technology and foreign investment.
• Other Critical Minerals: The country possesses bauxite, antimony, tungsten, molybdenum, nickel (reserves of approx. 18,000 tons, Top 10 globally), lead, zinc, and more. Notably, rare earth elements (reserves of approx. 2 million tons) are becoming increasingly strategic as the “vitamins” of high-tech industries.

Known as the “Resource Heart of Central Asia,” Kazakhstan’s total mineral resource value amounts to tens of trillions of dollars. Its complex and diverse geological structures create superior mineralization conditions, covering almost all useful elements on the periodic table.
