Burnt out millennials are audio journaling their way to calmer minds
New audio-based mobile app helps users enjoy the benefits of journaling on-the-go while documenting their life’s journey, all powered by their voice.

New York and London based start-up Journify launched an audio journaling app for iOS and Android customers to its waitlisters a few weeks ago, and is now free for everyone on the app stores.

With 7 in 10 millennials already suffering from burnout before the pandemic, Journify’s mainstream approach to burnout prevention incorporates audio journaling into our daily routines.

The app is built around a mobile and voice-first user experience, with tight encryption standards to offer full privacy. Users can tap to record at any time, organize their timeline with tags and notes, and replay or share the voice recordings via text, Whatsapp or email.

With written journaling clinically linked to improved mental and physical health, and the global notepaper market expected to grow $18.8bn from 2020-2024, diary recording’s increasing popularity looks certain.

Millennials are far from the only group that can benefit – 73% of tech professionals of all ages from top companies report to being burnt out. The app also comes with a free burnout tracker and other mental wellbeing indicators.

“We [millennials] have been talking about journaling for a long time, but many of us have quit after a few attempts because it’s hard to find the time. Recording our life updates on our smartphones is a much easier and seeming less experience. We’ve been sending each other voice notes via text or Whatsapp for a while now, so now we get to keep a record of our memories. I love seeing entrepreneurs, creatives, students and engineers amongst our early adopters.” – Lamia Pardo, Journify’s Co-Founder and CEO.

With 50% of millennials having quit their jobs last year due to mental health reasons, we’re more eager than ever to find ways to reduce tension and boost our happiness levels. Mental health advocate and Journify’s advisor Zak Williams said “Journify’s pioneering approach to audio journaling is a unique and pragmatic approach to self-care.” Journify has also established partnerships with different groups including non-profits to make sure the app reaches those who need it the most.
